IBM Case Manager support ending in 2023

Some time ago IBM announced the end of support for IBM Case Foundation and IBM Case Manager. As of September 30, 2023, standard support will end and after September 30, 2024, support for these products will no longer be available (except for customized support until 2029).
What are the possibilities for the many Case Foundation and Case Manager users?

In order to still be able to get support for Case Foundation and Case Manager, IBM offers 2 possible solutions. The first is a temporary and expensive solution: as is often the case with popular products that go out of support, IBM offers the possibility to purchase 'custom support'. This usually comes with a hefty price tag and the duration is always temporary.
The second solution is a very interesting one: IBM offers its Case Foundation and Case Manager customers the opportunity to upgrade to the much richer IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) at a limited cost.
